Craft in the Bay and Stations of the Cross catch up

So I have had a minor operation last week and I am house bound due to infection risk etc so I am playing catch up on office work etc though I should technically be resting but it's quite a hard thing to do.

Before the op I went to see my work at the lovely gallery

I really enjoyed my weekend away in Cardiff and I would like to say thank you to Catherine and Charlotte at the gallery, the work was hung beautifully and there was even a sale of one of my landscape pieces.

There is a catalogue and essays along side the works

Since then I have been into a lovely school in Morecambe to create a wall piece for the entrance hall of an 8ft x 4ft angel following on from a small wall plaque that has been there for a number of years this time made by the children.

So its now cut up and is drying ready for firing with a coppery stain to highlight the childrens' patterns and designs.

Unlike these which are fired and ready for delivery to St Leonards Church in Lango all ready for Palm Sunday.

Unfortunately I could not go due to infection risk but I do hope

the children were pleased with the end results.

But back to me

and my work I do like the shadows

Ceramics at the Mill

So for this years National Craft and Design Month I am organising with a few other potters an event at Higherford Mill.

There is a preview on Friday 10th May from 6.30-8.30pm

and then open from 10am - 5pm Saturday 11th Sunday 12th May.

It would be lovely to see you there for tea and cake too.

Higherford Mill Artists Exhibition

The Exhibition is themed 'Spring' at The Cross Gaits Inn, Blacko. The exhibition opens at 7pm on Thursday come on down for punch and nibbles.

So I found a home for some old and new hares to gauge reactions. But all seems very positive so far and also a sale! Wow I wasn't expecting that and all from publicizing the show on facebook!

feeling better

Well that was eventful! I was happily minding my own business and selling things to lovely people at my open studio event, ok I had a sniffle but really it wasn't that bad was it? Hmmmm the sale went really really well there are some things left over and I have been told I am not allowed to throw them against the wall (ceramic pieces obviously) so there will be a box of odds and ends outside the studio for a bit but the rest (paintings) need to find a home or storage as I love the space I have freed up in my studio and I don't want to give it up.

Anyway on the Monday after the sale we all awoke to snow and lots of it didn't we and well I couldn't see out of my left eye. Hmmmm I could when I went to bed, strange to wake up to a very swollen eye, so off to Urgent care in the snow but not without falling over first and to be admitted for 8 days at the Royal Blackburn Hospital! Eeek! Peri-orbital cellulitis by all accounts! And due to the immune suppressants I am taking from my auto immune disorder it was touch and go whether the antibiotics would work but luckily by Thursday it was responding and I didn't loose my eye. Phew! Apparently it was because I had Sinusitis and they are all wrapped around the eye socket. I was also told I was very very lucky! So that's my month what about yours? All well? good at least some of us enjoyed the snow though I was told it wasn't snowman building snow?

So this week I have gone back to work so playing catch up for nearly a months worth of stuff and also had a birthday. Was trying to keep my drawing up so was playing about with inks and hares I hope you like them as they will be on display at the Cross Gaits Inn, Blacko from March 14th.

And this week I was in St Leonard's Primary School in Langho working alongside Year 5 on the Stations of the Cross for this Easters Palm Sunday Service with the Bishop! Nothing like a bit of pressure for my first week back is there!

They are drying now, waiting to be fired so will post when finished I think we were all pleased with our efforts in two days.

Last day of studio sale

So tomorrow is the last day of the studio sale. I am open from 11am - 4pm so you are welcome to come and visit no obligation to buy just come and say hello. The first day on Thrusday has been the busiest and the best for sales fo far. Quite a few of the drawings have gone including one of my new hares. I am thinking of changing the way I work and now maybe the time so a sneak peak at what I would like to do. I have been saying this for a while but have not been brave enough so it's now or never me thinks!

sale starts Thursday

Possibly staring to sound like an advert for a sofa company but the sale starts this Thursday so am hurriedly cleaning and painting plinths. My original aim to make my studio tidy at the same time is slowly slipping away but it will be soon and believe me it will be photographed.

So some idea of the work in the sale are on the walls pics are hard to take with reflections on the glass and north lights but here are a few things below.
