So I have final got my page live on NotontheHighStreet!

I have had the page a while as I took it on just before being diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis which knocked me for six to be honest. The worst affected joints being the fingers and wrists and lately the elbows. Hmmm what was I to do as I could not spend my days rolling out porcelain to 2 mm thin slabs without being in excruciating pain, work was not looking good.

So I undertook a residency at Cumbria in the ceramic department on the AA2A scheme which is how this blog started as I had to document the processes learnt. With a lot of help from Steve Ogden and Gwen Bainbridge (Dylans Mum as shes known here) I learnt about slip casting techniques and decals for my drawings.

I now have a range of works that I have designed and created in plaster on a lathe by me and create in parian slip with my drawings as the decoration. They can be found and bought from here:

So that is where I am today. I have a small range of works which I can create in my studio all designed and made by me with a disease that can catch me out at any time but I am doing it and coping so far.

The disease is not stable but being treated with injections of disease modifiers and quite a lot of pain killers and anti inflam drugs. It can let me climb a mountain one day and the next keep me bed ridden with no rhyme or reason.

But we are getting there. I still have a couple of galleries thankfully and have been invited to create work for a couple of exhibition next year so things are looking good for the future.
Crossing fingers Arthur behaves itself!
